Thread Face Lift

What is Thread Face Lift?

Thread lift is a treatment method also known as “thread face lift”. This method is a rejuvenation method generally used in the treatment of sagging and deformations in the face and neck area. As people age, the connective tissue support in their skin decreases, skin elasticity is lost, and collagen production decreases. For this reason, sagging becomes evident in the face and neck areas. Thread facelift helps correct these problems.

Which threads are used for thread face and neck lift procedure?

Two types of threads are used for thread face and neck lift procedures:

PDO Threads (Polydiaxanone): These static threads are threads that are placed under the skin and have protrusions. Skin texture can be positioned in a specific vector. These threads also stimulate collagen production as they melt under the skin. However, its effects last, on average, 12 to 18 months.

Dynamic Threads (Spring Thread): Dynamic threads are made from a mixture of silicone and polyester and provide flexibility. The threads are accompanied by cone-shaped protrusions and blend better with the skin texture. The effects of dynamic threads can last longer than PDO threads and are usually permanent for 2-3 years.

What Should Be Considered Before Thread Lift?

Before the rope suspension procedure, the patient’s current health condition is reviewed. The procedure is not recommended for those with bleeding or clotting problems. If blood thinning medications are used, these medications may need to be stopped at least 5 days before the procedure. Those who consume herbal teas extensively are asked not to use such herbal teas for at least 1 week before the procedure. In case of pregnancy, it should not be performed during pregnancy, as the procedure requires the use of local anesthetic agents.

What are the things to consider after thread face lift?

After the thread face lift procedure, cold compresses are recommended, considering the possibility of bruising. The use of antibiotics is usually not necessary. Pain after the procedure may occur for the first 1-2 days and the use of painkillers may be recommended. The first 3 weeks are a period in which the healing process is called the “unhappiness period” and during this period, irregularities such as shrinkage, wrinkles or dimples may be observed on the skin surface. Such fluctuations are temporary and massage should not be done during this period. Lying on the treated area should be avoided and jaw movements should be restricted. Massage should not be done for approximately 3 weeks after thread suspension.

When Does Thread Face Lift Show Its Effect?

The permanence of the thread face lift procedure depends on the threads used, the person’s skin type and lifestyle. Rope suspension methods may have a short duration of effect on people with severe sagging and these methods may not be recommended for these people. Depending on the threads used on people with normal skin structure and mild sagging, the effect duration may be up to 5 years.
